RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – One driver was entrapped after two commercial vehicles crashed in Rankin County.
The crash occurred on Highway 481 near Wilson Bates Road just before 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24.
Investigators with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office said one of the vehicles was found to be carrying hazardous materials (propane), and the driver of the other vehicle was found to be entrapped.
According to officials, multiple volunteer fire departments and medical personnel worked to free the trapped driver. The driver was freed just after 4:00 p.m. and airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) and Rankin County deputies diverted traffic from the area. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
