YAZOO CITY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) football player was killed during a crash.

The Clarion Ledger reported the crash occurred in Yazoo City on Friday, November 8.

MVSU officials confirmed the death of Ryan Quinney, of Mobile, Alabama, on the university’s Facebook page.

“We are heartbroken to share that our beloved student, Ryan Quinney, tragically lost his life in a car accident last night. Ryan was a bright light in our community with a spirit that lifted everyone around him. He will be deeply missed by his friends, faculty, and all who knew him,” officials said.

Quinney was a junior at MVSU and was a linebacker for the football team.
