HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Hinds County man pled guilty in connection to the shooting deaths of his grandmother and uncle in 2021.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens said Harry Hylander pled guilty on Wednesday, November 13 to two counts of first-degree murder.
Hinds County deputies responded to a home on Midway Road on July 26, 2021, for a welfare check on Hylander’s grandmother, 83-year-old Sarah Hylander. When they arrived at the scene, deputies discovered the bodies of Sarah Hylander and 60-year-old David Hylander. They had been shot multiple times.
According to investigators, Hylander confessed to one of his family members that he had killed his uncle. Clinton police later located and arrested Hylander at the Econo Lodge.
Hylander was sentenced to life on both counts to run concurrently and to serve in the custody of
the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC).
