JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – A Jones County family was able to escape a house fire after one of them heard a loud “boom.”
Officials with the Jones County Fire Council said firefighters responded to the house fire on Pittman Road around 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 1. They saw flames showing from the rear of the home when they arrived.
The homeowner said the family was asleep when he was awakened by a loud “boom.” He then saw flames on their back porch, which had spread inside to the living area. The homeowner was able to get his family out of the home.
According to officials, the fire appeared to have originated on the back porch area near a heat lamp and a propane grill.
