JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The owner of a West Jackson barber shop said a recent shooting at the location had nothing to do with his business.
The shooting occurred at Kerron’s Kutz Barber Shop in the 4100 block of Robinson Street on Thanksgiving day.
Jackson police said a vehicle pulled into the parking lot, and the suspects fired shots into the barber shop. Investigators said three victims were shot multiple times and were treated at the hospital. They received non-life threatening injuries.
The owner of the barber shop, Jermaine Sylvester, said he has no intention of leaving the area, because he enjoys bringing economic growth to the capital city.
“We never had any problem over here. I’ve been here 10 years, so it is a safe place. You know, we got neighboring businesses, and they never had any problems. So, I just want to let the people know that it is a safe place to come to,” Sylvester said.
“I challenge anybody who’s looking for a new barber. You know, come in and talk to Jermaine. He’s going to take care of you, but this is a family barber shop,” said James Hopkins, a customer and member of Reset Jackson.
According to investigators, the motive for the shooting and the suspects are unknown.
Anyone with information about the shooting can contact the Jackson Police Department (JPD) at 601-960-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477).
