COAHOMA COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A deputy coroner in Mississippi has been charged with one count of embezzlement.
State Auditor Shad White announced that Special Agents from his office arrested Coahoma County Deputy Coroner Markeith Mosley.
According to White, Mosley fraudulently converted to his own use a Fuelman card belonging to Coahoma County, which came into his possession by virtue of his position as an employee to Coahoma County. The incident occurred between June 2021 and November 2023, according to the State Auditor.
“We will continue to hold the line when it comes to fraud, whether it be big or small,” said White. “We will continue to work with prosecutors to make sure that taxpayer money is protected.
If convicted, Mosley faces up to $25,000 in fines and up to 10 years in prison.
