HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Officials with the Hinds County School District announced the current superintendent has resigned.
Superintendent Robert L. Sanders, Ph.D., joined the school district in July 2023.
“After much reflection, I have made the decision to resign as Superintendent of the Hinds County School District at the conclusion of my contract on June 30, 2025. It has been a tremendous honor to serve our students, educators, and community, and I am proud of the progress we have achieved together during my tenure,” Sanders said.
During his education career, Sanders has served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He also served as assistant superintendent in the Simpson County School District.
“While this decision was not an easy one, I believe it is the right time for new leadership to continue advancing the mission of providing a quality education to every child. I remain fully committed to ensuring a smooth transition and to maintaining our focus on the success of our students during the remainder of my term. Thank you for the opportunity to serve this incredible community,” said Sanders.
