RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Belzoni man has been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) after a crash in Rankin County.
The crash occurred on MS-43 near Safe Harbor Circle around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 15.
Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) said a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling west on Safe Harbor Circle when it collided with a 2024 Cadillac Escalade that was traveling southbound on MS-43.
Troopers said the driver of the Cadillac and the passengers were transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson with minor injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 36-year-old Robert Franklin, of Belzoni, was not injured. Troopers said Franklin was transported to the Rankin County Detention Center and charged with DUI.
This crash remains under investigation by MHP.
