FORREST COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – Forrest County deputies arrested a 21-year-old man after he allegedly killed his mother.

Deputies said they responded to a home in the Glendale Garden Mobile Home Park on Monday, December 16 for a reported domestic disturbance.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found an injured woman. She was transported to Forrest General Hospital where she died from her injuries. Forrest County Coroner Lisa Klem identified the woman as Rafaela Galvez, 38, of Hattiesburg.

Following an investigation, Forrest County deputies arrested her son, 21-year-old Javier Galvez. He was charged with first-degree murder.

Galvez is being held at the Forrest County Jail and is awaiting his initial court appearance, which is scheduled for later this week.
