RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department arrested a South Carolina man who led officers on a multi-city chase across the metro.

According to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy located a semitruck weaving through multiple travel lanes on I-20 westbound and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The truck driver failed to stop the 18-wheeler and a motor vehicle pursuit began.

Officers with the Pearl Police Department were able to deploy spike strips at the 52-mile marker which were then struck by the 18-wheeler.

As the pursuit continued, it traveled through the City of Jackson and began entering the City of Clinton before finally coming to a stop.

David Sergey Pozdnyakov of Duncan, South Carolina initially barricaded himself inside the cab of a semitruck which led officers to break the driver’s window before he could be arrested.

Pozdnyakov was arrested for Felony Fleeing, DUI, Disobeying a Police Officer, and Careless Driving.
