JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Several agencies and community groups are teaming up to help people stay warm this winter.

The “Skates and Sirens: Coats to the Rescue” project began in 2018. The 11-day campaign, which began Thursday, seeks to give winter apparel to those who need it.

Organizers, like Jackson Roller Derby League President Lisa Hill, are proud of how many coats they have collected over the years.

“We have under-housed friends and family out there. We’ve got unhoused and then we have people who are housed and still have a need,” Hill said. “You know, it’s tough this time of year. So if you have, please give.”

If you would like to donate, each of the Jackson Fire Department’s 21 stations will serve as collection points between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. The winter apparel drive ends Monday, January 6th.
