Teen arrested, 4 others wanted after Jackson crime spree

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police announced a teenager has been arrested and four others are wanted after a weekend crime spree.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said the teenagers committed 15 auto burglaries, six auto thefts and carjackings in the capital city. The crimes ranged from South Jackson to North Jackson.

According to Wade, officers arrested Azarion Hatcher, 17, in connection to the crimes after a chase. Wade said the teenager was in a stolen vehicle.

Hatcher was charged with auto theft and felony fleeing from law enforcement. He faces additional charges in Jackson. Hatcher was also wanted in Yazoo City for carjacking, attempted murder and home invasion.

Wade said Jackson police have issued arrest warrants for a 14-year-old, two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old in connection to the weekend crime spree.

According to the police chief, officers have recovered multiple stolen vehicles in connection to the case.

Wade asked Jackson residents to lock their cars and remove weapons from their vehicles. He said the suspects were looking for weapons, and they stole at least five firearms.
