VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – Two Vicksburg teenagers have been arrested and charged for allegedly assaulting their stepfather.

Vicksburg Police Chief Penny Jones said Michael Ware, 19, and his unidentified brother were arrested on Monday, December 30 on misdemeanor charges.

Ware is facing charges for domestic violence and discharging a firearm in the city limits. He is expected to appear in court later this week. His brother was arrested on similar charges and transported to the Warren County Youth Detention Center.

Jones said officers responded to a call involving a mother and her son on Sunday, December 29. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered that the two teens had assaulted their stepfather.

Jones said the teens fled the scene, prompting officers to chase them into a nearby wooded area. During the chase, the police chief said they received another call reporting that seven to eight shots had been fired.

In response, the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) security team was notified, because police believed that the teenagers fled onto federal property.
