HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. — Marshall County authorities are looking for a suspect in a shooting Wednesday on Old Hudsonville Road in Holly Springs.
The shooting stemmed from an argument over ownership of a vehicle and ended with a 23-year-old man shot and wounded outside a home.
“I’m terrified,” said the mother of the victim, who did not want to be identified. “I never been in a situation like that. I can’t get over it. I’m still shaking.”
The victim, with a bullet still in his leg, did not want to go on camera but is recovering.
Authorities are looking for Tyrell Battle, who showed up at the house with his sister Jani Battle, to settle an argument over a vehicle, which was reportedly co-owned by the woman and the victim, her ex-boyfriend.

“They have a car, he have a car,” the victim’s mother said. “She co-signed so she wanted to get the car cause she co-signed for it. It was all about her getting the car back. We didn’t expect this to go this far.”
She was not expecting the siblings to show up, or for Tyrell Battle to be armed with three weapons. She says she tried to defuse the situation and keep anyone from getting hurt.
“And he was like ‘F you and your family.’ He said, ‘All ya’ll gonna die’ and he just started shooting, and we all ran in the house and he shot my son in the leg, but the rest of us didn’t get hit.”
A large number of rounds were fired Wednesday during this incident, and many evidence markers are in the front yard. Two bullets shattered this front window but no one inside the house was hit.
“My husband could have came home and planned a funeral for his entire family because we all was here, other than him,” the woman said.
Both suspects fled the scene but Jani Battle was apprehended Wednesday. Tyrell Battle is still on the run.
