JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A South Jackson family is expected to be okay after they escaped a house fire on Thursday.

The fire occurred at a home on Forrest Hill Road just before 9:00 a.m. on January 9.

Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Armon said the family managed to escape to the backyard of the home.

“They’ve gotten to the point right now where the fire is under control, and they’re basically just putting out hotspots. Then they’re going to see, what, if any, arrangements they can make for the family to, you know, hang somewhere or have some shelter,” he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
