GAUTIER, Miss. (WJTV) – A 15-year-old Gautier High School student died after collapsing at the school’s field house.

WXXV reported the unidentified student collapsed before 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, January 9.

Gautier Police Chief David Bever said the student was transported to Ocean Springs Hospital, where he later died. His cause of death is unknown.

The Gautier High School and Pascagoula-Gautier School District community is processing an unimaginable tragedy. 

Just before dismissal on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, a 15-year-old student collapsed in the GHS field house. CPR was immediately administered by coaches, and 911 was called. The student was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Ocean Springs where he passed away. 

The entire PGSD community is grieving, and our hearts are with the student’s family and friends. Mental health support is being provided at GHS for staff and students.
