JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Dr. Jana Chao, with the Clinton Public School District, was recently awarded the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST).

This achievement reflects on the significant contributions made to the teaching profession in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics and is presented to only 336 educators across the nation.

Chao has an extensive background in elementary education, teaching Computer Science for seven years. She also played an integral role in the installation of Clinton Public School District’s Computer Science program spreading to all elementary grades.

“This award is an honor and recognizes the incredible opportunities I have been allowed in this profession,” Chao said. “It is a validation of the hard work and dedication of fellow teachers and mentors who have supported me, pushed me and allowed me to do what I know is best for students.”
