JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police are asking for help to find the person responsible for the shooting death of Kenneth Weathers in 2022.

Weathers was shot at a convenience store on Robinson Road. Police said he was shot by a man after exiting the store.

“The young man that we’re looking for, I would like for his family and friends to say something. No person deserves what my brother went through. People have to understand that we have been dealt a life sentence, because every day that we get up, we think about him. Every holiday. Every birthday. Every single day. So, if the community would please call. Let someone know this young man’s whereabouts. We deserve closure,” said Cynthia Weathers, the victim’s sister.

The news conference that was held on Wednesday is part of Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade’s “Stand With Me” campaign. The department’s Cold Case Unit will focus on tackling the unsolved gun violence cases in the capital city.

“We’re standing with people and families that have been destroyed by gun violence here in the City of Jackson. That’s why they’re here with me, working in lockstep with me, so this family can be able to go to sleep at night and not worry about who killed their brother, the family member, their fiancée, their friend,” said Wade.

Anyone with information on the death of Weathers can contact the Jackson Police Department (JPD) at 601-960-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477).
