MCCOMB, Miss. (WJTV) – Parts of South Mississippi experienced a wintry mix on Tuesday.

Snow began falling in McComb Tuesday morning. Several businesses in the city closed due to the winter weather.

Officials with the Pike County Emergency Management encouraged neighbors to stay home and off the roads.

“Just stay inside and stay warm as best you can. Hopefully, we won’t have any power outages. You know, usually when you have snow, powerlines come down, but we’re not expected to get ice, freezing rain or ice. So hopefully, our power will stay up. And just stay warm as best you can. Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly, make sure they’re okay,” said Tina Reed with the Pike County Emergency Management.

If the snow melts as the sun comes out on Wednesday, there is a possibility that it could freeze and become ice as temperatures drop.
