JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The winter storm has hindered air travel across the South, including at the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport.

Several flights across the southeast were canceled or delayed on Tuesday. In Central Mississippi, many travelers had to rebook their flights.

“I got a notification saying my flight was delayed, and then luckily, I was able to rebook with Delta going to the exact same spot. Kind of surprised by the flight was canceled, though,” said one traveler.

South Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas have taken the brunt of the winter storm. Some flyers said booking a flight out of Jackson was their best bet.

“We were supposed to fly to Dallas for business meeting, and a notice came through yesterday that the flight was canceled. So, we rebooked out of Jackson and drove to Jackson last night to fly out. Yeah, we’re just not prepared for it in the South,” said one traveler.

Airport officials said travelers should check their flight status before heading out.
