JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – If you’re experiencing water issues in the City of Jackson, crews are working to fix the problem.
JXN Water crews are working to fix several breaks. They closed West Street between East Mitchell Avenue and East Lorenz Boulevard for a water line repair. Drivers have been asked to find an alternate route.
Ted Henifin, Interim Third-Party Manager for JXN Water, said water breaks in the city are not as bad as he’s seen in the past. He believes investments in the system are paying off, but there are still challenges.
“Some of them are fairly easy fixes. You can isolate it pretty quickly, shut it off, dig down and fix whatever’s broken. The other problem is that sometimes you have to isolate it, and you knock out a bunch of folks that are needing the water, and we can’t necessarily take them down for a long period of time,” said Henifin.
He will remain over JXN Water until 2027, but Henifin said it could take another 10 years to restore the capital city’s water system completely.
