RAYMOND, Miss. (WJTV) – Crews responded to a fire at a dorm on the Raymond campus of Hinds Community College (HCC) on Sunday, March 2.

The fire occurred at Davis Hall, a women’s residence hall. According to HCC officials, a construction crew was working on the roof of the five-story building when the fire started in an unused dryer vent on the second floor, which was evacuated.

No injuries were reported. Officials said Davis Hall had minor water and smoke damage inside.

All students are expected to be allowed back into the residence hall late Sunday, except those on the second floor. The 44 affected students are being temporarily relocated and are scheduled to return to Davis within 24 hours.
