SUNFLOWER COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – An inmate who escaped from the Mississippi State Penitentiary (MSP) was captured in Sunflower County on Friday, March 7.
According to the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC), Nevin Whetstone was captured with the help of local, state, and federal authorities.
Officials said he escaped from Parchman on Tuesday, March 4.

Whetstone is serving a life sentence for capital murder committed in Lee County and one year for escape from the Sunflower County Jail. He was sentenced on December 14, 1984.
