JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police announced an off-duty officer was arrested in connection to a domestic violence incident that led to a crash.
Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash that occurred on Buena Vista Avenue at Robinson Road just before 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12.
According to Wade, the off-duty officer, Jagguar Winder, apparently hit a woman’s vehicle with his personal vehicle before leaving the scene. The police chief said Winder and the woman knew each other.
The woman was hospitalized overnight and later released. Wade said other people were also injured during the crash.

“I am the biggest supporter of our men and women in law enforcement. I commend them, I support them and I salute them, but we must hold them accountable for their actions,” said Wade.
Winder was arrested on Wednesday and was charged with domestic violence-aggravated assault. He received a $1 million bond during his initial court appearance on Thursday, March 13.
The police chief said Winder had been with the department for less than a year. Winder will be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
