JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A new Mississippi Blues Trail marker honors Blues legend Jesse Robinson.

The marker was unveiled outside the Iron Horse Grill on March 20. Fellow musicians, friends, family, and local officials gathered to celebrate the occasion and hear the Jesse Robinson All-Star Blues Jam perform.

Born in Benton in 1944, Robinson began playing guitar as a young boy and grew up to enjoy a long and illustrious career. He has played with many Blues legends, including B.B. King, Buddy Guy, and Bobby Rush.

Robinson is a significant figure in the world of Blues music for his soulful performances, but also for his efforts to promote Blues education and inspire future generations of musicians.

“We are very excited to commemorate Jesse Robinson’s significant and continued contribution to the world of Blues music and music education, especially in March, as we celebrate Mississippi Musician’s Month in the state known as the birthplace of America’s music,” said Visit Mississippi Director Rochelle Hicks.
