PICAYUNE, Miss. (WHLT) – The cause of death has been released for a three-year-old girl who died in Picayune.
According to WXXV, the Pearl River County Coroner’s Office said Aurora Enfinger died of significant blunt force trauma to the head and abdomen. She also had a lacerated liver.
Picayune police said they responded to Crestwood Drive around 10:15 a.m. on March 18 after receiving a call about a deceased child, who was identified as Aurora Enfinger.
Investigators suspected foul play, and the child’s death was later ruled as a homicide. Detectives obtained a search warrant in the case to gather evidence, and they also recovered steroids.
According to police, Christian and Samantha Enfinger were arrested for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.
On March 20, Samantha Enfinger, the child’s stepmother, was charged with capital murder.
