Yazoo County jury convicts two men in 2023 homicide

YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Yazoo County Circuit Court jury found two men guilty of first-degree murder and attempted murder on March 21.

According to District Attorney Akillie Malone-Oliver, James Banks, Jr., and Kendrick Myers were both charged with the murder of Jalen Littleton, 16, and the attempted murder of a 15-year-old.

The incident occurred on February 3, 2023, on Shady Drive in Yazoo City. Investigators said Banks and Myers shot both victims while they were attempting to go to a basketball game. The surviving victim testified that they had been shot multiple times.

Banks and Myers will be sentenced on April 1, 2025.
