Yazoo City middle schoolers hospitalized after eating edibles

YAZOO CITY, Miss. (WJTV) – Six middle school students in Yazoo City were hospitalized after eating edibles, police said.

Yazoo City Police Chief Terry Gann said a student brought the edibles to Woolfolk Middle School on Tuesday, March 25 and gave them to his classmates.

The students were transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Yazoo City for treatment.

The police chief said investigators are working to determine where the student got the edibles. He said the child’s parents could face charges if they are found to have any involvement in the incident.

Woolfolk Middle School is part of the Mississippi Achievement School District. WJTV 12 News reached out to the superintendent’s office for a statement.

The Mississippi Achievement School District is aware of an incident that occurred at Woolfolk Middle School involving students and a suspected substance. The matter is currently under investigation, and we are working in coordination with local authorities to determine the facts.

As a district, we remain committed to the safety and well-being of our students and have taken proactive steps to educate families about products that may appear harmless but pose serious risks. We will continue to communicate with our community and share updates as appropriate.
