HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The Hinds County Board of Supervisors announced the launch of a new initiative aimed at enhancing emergency response times for rural residents.

Starting March 26, reflective address markers will be issued free of charge to residents living in the rural areas of Hinds County.

According to supervisors, the markers will aid law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS) when responding to emergencies in the more remote parts of the county.

“The safety of our residents is our top priority,” said Hinds County Supervisor Robert Graham, District 1. “By providing these reflective address markers, we are taking a proactive step to improve emergency response times in our rural communities. Every second counts during an emergency, and these markers can make all the difference.”

The reflective address markers are designed to be placed near the driveway, approximately three to four feet from the street, making them easily visible to approaching emergency vehicles.

Residents can obtain a marker by either calling their Hinds County supervisor or by visiting the Hinds County website to download and fill out a yard marker request form. Completed forms can be returned to the respective supervisor, and markers will be delivered within two weeks.
