JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Capitol police arrested a man after a chase ended when a vehicle crashed into a light pole.
Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said officers attempted to stop a vehicle near State Street and Mitchell Avenue around 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26.
Martin said the driver, 31-year-old Jarvis Crump, did not stop and led officers on a chase. The chase ended when Crumps’ vehicle hit a light pole in the area of Bailey Avenue and Monument Street.
According to Martin, Crump tried to run away, but he was arrested. No injuries were reported.
Crump has been charged with felony fleeing and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
