JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Voters across the Jackson-metro area went to the polls on April 1 to vote in the 2025 Municipal Primary Election.
In Jackson, 12 Democrats and three Republicans are running to be the next mayor. The ballots also included the City Council and political party representatives.
Citizens said they want candidates to make good on the promises they campaign on, if they’re elected to term.
“Basically just live up to what they promised the citizens of Jackson and do what they’re proposing to do for the City of Jackson. There’s a lot of things that needs to be done revamped here. And, hopefully, whoever actually wins this mayoral race, can live up to some of their promises that they actually just promised the citizens,” said one voter.
“More things done rather than promise. We’ve gotten tired of promises. We just need to see results,” said another voter.
Tuesday’s primary will determine whose name will be on the ballot for the Municipal Election in June 2025.
