Jackson homeowner seeks urgent fix for open sewer pipe

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A Jackson homeowner is upset due to an open sewer pipe flooding her property.

Rosette Anderson, who lives on Whitestone Road, wants JXN Water to fix the open pipe on her property. She said the pipe has caused major issues, including erosion and potential health hazards.

“The water is the biggest problem because it comes in the house, and it does smell, and it should not be going on the street. But I didn’t know how to fix the pipe myself. It’s the city’s responsibility. Everything past the city’s meter is supposed to be JXN Water’s responsibility. And they tell me it’s mine. They told me that many times,” Anderson said.

A white PVC pipe now runs through part of her front yard from the sewer line to the street. When it rains, the line floods and backs up into her home.

“It makes my bathrooms stop up. And if I flush my toilets, it comes up and onto the floors. But I got black mold in my house where the water comes in and sits,” Anderson said.

WJTV 12 News reached out to JXN Water about the issue. We have not received a reply.
