BRANDON, Miss. (WJTV) – A vehicle went into Crossgates Lake in Brandon.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22 near West Government Street.

Brandon Police Chief Joseph French said the preliminary investigation showed that the driver experienced a medical emergency, which caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and enter Crossgates Lake.

According to French, the driver was able to exit the vehicle before it became fully submerged. The driver was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.

No other vehicles were involved, and there were no reported injuries to bystanders.
