FORREST COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – A four-year-old boy was killed and two others were injured during a crash in Forrest County, officials said.
The crash occurred in the 500 block of River Road shortly before 5:30 pm. on April 28.
The North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department (NFVFD) responded to the scene. NFVFD Chief Brandon Odom said firefighters found a silver vehicle that had left the roadway, entered a creek, and came to rest upside down on the creek bank.
According to Odom, two victims were already out of the vehicle, while a third victim remained trapped inside. Firefighters began extrication efforts, and the entrapped victim was removed from the vehicle.
The chief said the entrapped victim died from his injuries at the scene. Forrest County Coroner Lisa Klem identified the deceased as Micah Napper, 4.
The other two victims were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the victim’s family.
