GULFPORT, Miss. (WJTV) – Gulfport police arrested two people who allegedly tied up a couple and hit a man with a machete during a home invasion.

The Sun Herald reported the incident happened on March 31, 2025 in the 12000 block of Cypress Bayou Drive.

Investigators said Daniel Brown, 31, and Octavia Winters, 41, were arrested and are both facing robbery charges. Winters was also charged with burglary, motor vehicle theft and aggravated assault.

According to Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley, the male victim said he was hit in the head and arm with a machete while outside the home and forced back inside. The two victims were tied up with zip ties.

Haley said the suspects took an unknown amount of cash and jewelry. They also took the victim’s black 2018 Dodge Charger.

The sheriff said the two victims were able to free themselves and drove to local hospital for treatment.

Brown and Winters are being held in the Harrison County Jail.
