RIDGELAND, Miss. (WJTV) – Ridgeland police arrested a 17-year-old in connection to a burglary at Two Gun Tactical.

The incident occurred at the business on Highway 51 just after 3:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 1. Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers said officers discovered a shattered window where entry was apparently made into the business.

The police chief said due to the possibility of a barricaded suspect in a business holding firearms and ammunition, extra precaution was taken to assure officer safety. The Ridgeland Police Department’s Special Response Team was activated, and with the assistance of a drone operator from the Madison Police Department, the business was cleared and secured.

Myers said video surveillance of the business was reviewed, and police discovered that one burglar entered the business and took two firearms from a display case. The suspect exited the business through the broken window.

The investigation led to the arrest of Thomas Schaffer, Jr., 17, of Ridgeland, and the recovery of the two stolen firearms.

The police chief said Schaffer has been charged as an adult with one count of burglary of a commercial building and two counts of possession of a stolen weapon. His bond has been set at $200,000. Schaffer is being held at the Madison County Detention Center.
