JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A woman gave birth near Gallatin and Earl Streets in Jackson.

Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said Capitol police responded to a call about a medical emergency just before 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7.

When officers arrived, the found a woman holding a newborn with the umbilical cord still attached. The mother and child were transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
