JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A job center on wheels could soon be in an area near you.
The Mississippi Department of Employment Security (MDES) will deploy the Mobile WIN Job Center where brick and mortar job centers are not available. The center has seven workstations and will also serve as a training unit.
Organizers said the Mobile WIN Job Center will be invaluable during disasters when power, phone and internet services are inaccessible. The unit will routinely travel throughout the state to help people in various areas.
“What we want to say is, in Mississippi, we had the lowest unemployment rate in the history of our state. We got more people working than ever before, but we want to do even more. We want more people in the workforce,” said Gov. Tate Reeves (R-Miss.). “We want more Mississippians doing workforce development and job training. And we want you to make more money because we know if you make more money, that’s good for our state and that’s good for our economy.”
