YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A 19-year-old driver died after his vehicle went into Lake George in Yazoo County.
According to Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers, Yazoo County 911 received a call from the driver around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 10. The driver stated that he had gone into the river by a bridge on Satartia Road east of the Holly Bluff community.
Authorities responded to the scene, and the car was found several minutes later in the flood waters of Lake George at Satartia. Shivers said the tail lights were the only thing visible of the car, and the driver could not be located with a visual search of the area.
As more volunteers arrived, the Yazoo County dive team put two boats in the water along with divers. The coroner said the car was located, but they determined that no one was inside.
The divers began a grid search of the area around the car, and they located the driver. Shivers identified the deceased as Kyeternity Moore, 19, of Rolling Fork.
The incident is under investigation by the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP).
