Two arrested, accused of helping Orleans Justice Center escapees

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Two people accused of assisting escapees from the Orleans Justice Center have been arrested.

According to the Louisiana State Police, 32-year-old Cortnie Harris, of New Orleans, is accused of taking two escapees, who are still at large, to different locations in New Orleans, after being in phone contact with an escapee prior to the jailbreak.

Additionally, 38-year-old Corvanntay Baptiste, of Slidell, is accused of being in contact with and helping to get food to the now-captured inmate, Corey Boyd, who was allegedly hiding at a home at the time.

Both suspects were arrested and were booked into the Plaquemines Parish Detention Center, each facing one charge of accessories after the fact. The LSP reports of the law that “those convicted of accessory after the fact shall be fined not more than $500, or imprisoned, with or without hard labor, for not more than five years, or both.”

As of Wednesday morning, five of the 10 fugitives have been caught and returned to custody.
