LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Lee County resident was arrested after two people were found deceased, authorities said.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said investigators received a report around 3:30 p.m. on May 23 that led them to a home on County Road 295 in the Shannon area. When they arrived, deputies contacted the property owner and resident, and they conducted a search of the premises.

During the search, the sheriff said two deceased individuals were discovered. Johnson said the resident, 39-year-old Jonathan Kelly, was interviewed as a person of interest. He was later charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Kelly is being held at the Lee County Adult Jail on a $10 million bond.

The sheriff said the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) assisted in locating evidence that was instrumental in the case.

The victims have not been identified. The investigation is ongoing.
