NATCHEZ, Miss. (WJTV) – A lightning strike hit the City of Natchez’s water plant.

According to city officials, the incident occurred Monday morning as storms moved through the area.

We had a lightning strike at our water plant. It caused the pumps to go off, resulting in a loss of pressure all over town. High pressure pumps have been activated and the situation has been resolved.

Since there was no break in the lines, Natchez Water Works will be issuing a precautionary boil water notice for NWW customers. As soon as the MS Department of Health approves the samples provided, this notice will be lifted.
