HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Officials with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) said a critical rehabilitation of U.S. 80 over the Pearl River in Hinds County is still underway.
With the bridge closed, crews are removing three steel girder spans and installing a new bridge deck and railing. Additional work includes placing a hybrid polymer overlay on the remainder of the bridge, sealing the new bridge joints and cleaning all bridge caps.
Officials said crews have made significant progress and completed the bridge deck along with sidewalk pours and will begin installing bridge rail soon.
According to MDOT, the project is on track to wrap up this fall.
