JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A Jackson apartment complex was declared a public nuisance.

This comes after mountains of trash piled up at Chapel Ridge Apartments when officials said the owners stopped paying their trash bill.

A judge’s order said the property owners can be fined up to $1,000. City Attorney Drew Martin said the City of Jackson will have the authority to clear trash and board up the property, if needed.

Martin said a City Council order to adopt the judge’s recommendations is being prepared.
