VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – A 53-year-old man was found deceased during a house fire in Vicksburg.

The fire occurred at a home in the 300 block of Marian Lane around 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 16.

Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps said firefighters found the victim deceased in the bathroom, where most of the damage was. He said the victim was the only person inside of the home.

Warren County Deputy Coroner Daryl Carson said the victim was identified as John Claud Owen, who was an employee with the City of Vicksburg. His cause of death is still under investigation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
