YAZOO CITY, Miss. (WJTV) – Two women were injured during a shooting in Yazoo City, police said.

The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 22.

According to Yazoo City Police Chief Terry Gann, John Young waited outside of the victims’ apartment for two hours before he forced his way into the apartment and attacked three people inside.

One of the victims, a male, fled from the scene. Gann said Young then shot both women. He is believed to be the husband of one of the victims.

Young was later captured by Warren County deputies and transported back to Yazoo City. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of the attempt to commit the crime of murder.

The police chief said the two women are in good condition as of June 23.
