JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Capitol police are investigating after two women were killed during a shooting early Sunday morning.

Capitol Police Chief Bo Luckey said the shooting occurred on Wilmington Street around 3:19 a.m. on July 6. When officers arrived, they discovered two victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

“As of right now, we have not made an arrest. However, we are following up on leads. We do have some very promising leads. We feel like there’s going to be a resolution to this case very quickly,” Luckey stated.

The police chief said he’s confident in the department’s 100% solvability rate record in regard to finding who’s accountable for the fatal shooting.

Interim Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard identified the victims as Telissa Holder, 34, and Racquel Freeman, 32. According to Holder’s mother, the two women were believed to be good friends.

“I pray for justice. I pray that my Father in heaven allows the officers that are working this case to obtain his location and go ahead and be able to apprehend him one way or the other. And at that time, I will have more peace. I know where my daughter is. She’s with the Father that allowed her to be here, And I just hope to see that justice is served with her murderer,” said Tessa Holder.

She believes her daughter’s death is another senseless act of domestic violence.
