MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A train has derailed in Sardis, Mississippi, Panola County Emergency Operations has confirmed.
Dispatch told WREG that the derailment took place just north of Sardis on Highway 51.
There are no reported injuries. Panola County Emergency Operations has asked the public to avoid the scene.
The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
The Panola County Sheriff’s Department, the Sardis Fire Department, and representatives of the railroad company responded to the scene.
This is the second train derailment in northern Mississippi. On Saturday, the Coahoma County Fire Department responded to a train derailment in Tallahatchie County.


No injuries were reported in that train derailment.
