ADAMS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – In Adams County, investigators said three men were arrested in connection to a fight that escalated into a shooting.
Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said deputies responded to two incidents on Deerfield Road on Friday, July 11.
The sheriff said Reginald Butler was initially stopped for a cigarette, and the incident escalated into a fight. He said Butler has a fractured nose and a possible concussion.
After the first fight, Patten said Butler left the area on his bike and later returned. The sheriff said during the second fight, Butler pulled out a gun and shot an unidentified person.
Butler was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He was released on a $50,000 bond.
According to the sheriff, Cameron Taunton and Houston Pretty were both charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. Their bonds were each set at $350,000.
The sheriff said Taunton was out on probation for assaulting a disabled person from Louisiana.
Patten said additional arrests are expected in the case. He said the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have been contacted and are actively collaborating with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office in this ongoing investigation.
