JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A family is demanding answers after a 21-year-old man was found deceased inside the Rankin County Jail.
Rankin County Coroner David Ruth said the body of Tevin Rogers was transported from the jail on June 24 for an autopsy. He said there were no signs of trauma. Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) are investigating Tevin’s death.
“Tevin was a strong young man, and like I said, he loved life. It’s just right now, I’m just still in disbelief about this, about my son. And I am,” said his father, Michael Rogers.
Michael said he spoke with Tevin the day before his son died.
“I spoke to him for five minutes, 11 seconds. Last time I talked to my son. The next call I got back was a call that I didn’t want,” he said.
Michael is urging the community to come together and speak out to prevent this from happening to others.
